Made it to Shanghai Safe and Sound

Saturday 20 May:
An eleven hour 50 minute flight. Ugh! Oh well, my voice really needed a rest, so it worked out fine that that I was in the window seat next to two Chinese or Japanese gentlemen. Who for some reason have bladders that never need relief because they didn’t get up, except to let me by! Not once in 12 hours for Mr. Middleseat. Once for Mr. Aisleseat. The airplane food was actually pretty good. Beef tips in gravy. I got about six hours of sleep. God love Katie O’Shea and her noise canceling headphones. Lifesavers!

Transferring in Narita was super easy. I was worried that it would be hard to read signs. Etc but it wasn’t. Flight to shanghai was about two and a half hours. Immigration, luggage and customs was Simple! The Mexicans can learn a lot from the Chinese so organized.

I was starting to worry that what would do if the hotel forgot to send a car? I didn’t have any Chinese currency yet! But there the guy was as I exited customs “Jennifer Jacobson” on his sign! Yippee! The car ride was pretty uneventful. I just tried to stay awake!

The hotel is beautiful. Very modern. I love my room! Bright white. You could do surgery in it! I took some pictures. Took a hot bath, checked email and went to bed in my huge king size bed! (which, even though it’s not asleep number bed, if it were it would be a 100. wow hard mattress.)

Monday, 22 May
I woke up several times, but slept pretty good nonetheless. Got up about 6:00 a.m. and did some emails, then went for a run around the neighborhood. Blondes get a lot of stares here. :) Met my meeting planner, Theresa Soong, in the lobby for our meeting with the hotel. We had lunch at the Chinese restaurant here at the hotel with the meeting producer and the travel staff. Fresh steamed broccoli, chow fun noodles and an order of seafood fried rice.

And now I have been working on some stuff for my speakers. I want to go see some sights tomorrow, So I want to get this wrapped up today.

The production “kids” said should go to the fake market tomorrow and The Bund, which is a big riverwalk.
